V. REWRITE THE SENTENCES BELLOW INTO OPPOSITE SITUATION USING CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
Example:
He came late because he overslept
If he had not overslept, he wouldn”t come late.

CONDITIONAL SENTENCE
(Explanation)
Conditional sentence is a complex sentence expressing a result which is expressed from a condition. The condition ius expressed in a clause which generally begins with the word “if” and the result is in the main clause. The result expressed can be real and unreal. There are three types of conditional sentence:
I FUTURE POSSIBLE CONDITION
Future conditional sentence expresses that something expressed in the main clause with [probably happen in the past or future as long as the condition is fulfilled:
IF CLAUSE: PRESENT TENSE S+ V1/S/IS, AM, ARE+ COMP | MAIN CLAUSE : FUTURE TENSE S + WILL + V 1 / BE |
1. IF SHE IS HERE | SHE WILL BE HAPPY |
2. IF HE COMES TO HER PARTY | HE CAN MEET HIS EX GIRL FRIEND |
II. PRESENT UNREAL CONDITION
The present un real condition expressed that something in the “if” clause is unreal so it is impossible for some thing in the main clause to happen in the present time.
IF CLAUSE: SIMPLE PAST TENSE S+ V2 / WERE + COMP | MAIN CLAUSE : PAST TENSE S+ WOULD + V1 / BE |
1. If she loved him (she doesn’t love him) | He would marry her this year. (he doesn’t marry her this year.) |
2. If here were more patient. (he isn’t patient) | He would he able to win her heart. (he can’t win her heart) |
III. PAST IMPOSSIBLE CONDITION
The past conditional sentence expresses that something in the ‘if’ clause did not happen in the past so what is expressed in the main clause did not take place.
IF CLAUSE : PAST PERFECT S + HAD + V3/ BEEN | MAIN CLAUSE : PAST FUTURE PERFECT (S + WOULD + HAVE + V 3 / BEEN |
1. If he had come to her party ( he didn’t come to her party) | He would have met his exgirl friend. (he didn’t meet her) |
2. If she had not been busy (she was busy) | He would have helped (he didn’t help us) |
