Assalamu Wr. Wb.
First of all, let us pray worship and praise to Almighty God, Allah, for His permission we can gather here.
Secondly, may peace be upon the Prophet Muhammad that have guided us from the darkness into the brightness.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Our theme today is "Save the Earth".
As we know, the people from all over the world always commemorate Earth Day every 22 April. The idea is based on the awareness of Earth Day to save the world from environmental degradation. It aims to create a global movement to actively participate in saving our planet - the only planet on which we live.
Our country, Indonesia, which is known as the emerald equator, has an important role to maintain the balance of the ecological system of the world. 63 percent (or 1.134 million km2) area of forest land as we are. Meanwhile, the water area of more than 317 million km2. 17 percent of the world's plants and animal species live in Indonesia. This indicates that the ecosystem and environmental conditions in Indonesia will affect the world. In other words, the environmental destruction in Indonesia will affect the sustainability of the world's environment.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
One of the causes of environmental degradation are deforestation, otherwise known as deforestation. Deforestation has caused many disasters in the world, including Indonesia. Floods, earthquakes, and landslides are examples of disasters that kill makes us realize that the existence of the forest is very important.
In addition, other effects of deforestation related to global warming or global surface temperature increases are primarily caused by the greenhouse effect. We all know, one of the most crucial problems in celebrating Earth Day is global warming. It reminds us that our world is in danger and we should participate actively to take care of our environment.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The question is, what is the relationship between Earth Day, global warming, deforestation, and Indonesia?
Indonesia is located on the equator, between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn. Because of its location, Indonesia is rich rainforest. Scientists say that the function of the rain forest is as lungs of the world. They absorb greenhouse gas emissions, converting carbon dioxide (CO2) into oxygen (O2). This means that if deforestation continues, the greenhouse effect can not be reduced and eventually global warming will continue to increase.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We live in the same world, on this earth. The importance of saving our environment, especially our rain forests, is the need for all of us, for mankind to survive. It is not only for us but also for our future generations. For that let us together to save the Earth from destruction.
It seems for now we end up here first, more or less we apologize profusely.
